Restylane® is similar to JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel in that it is a hyaluronic acid-based filler.  Its indications are similar to the indications for JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel.  Dr. Greenwald has significant experience using facial fillers such as Restylane® to rejuvenate various facial features such as the cheeks, lips and nasolabial folds.  Facial fillers such as Restylane®  are  different from Botox® in that Restylane® can be used to “fill in” wrinkles and add volume to certain parts of the face, such as cheeks and lips. Restylane® injections are also highly effective for treating deep nasolabial folds (the lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth). The results of Restylane® injections become fully apparent almost immediately and can last six months or longer. The only notable risk with Restylane® is bruising which typically resolves in 4-7 days. Similarly to Botox®, the rejuvenating effect can be extended by undergoing periodic follow-up Restylane® injections.

Restylane® in  Fairfield County, Connecticut: Greenwich, Danbury, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield

Prior to your Restylane® injections, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the areas to be treated such as the lips and nasolabial folds.  Cold compresses may also be applied to ensure your comfort.  Some patients may require a “dental block” that is similar to the anesthesia you receive at the dentist. Dr. Greenwald carefully studies your facial structure before choosing the proper injection sites.  Once you are numb in the areas to be treated, the injection process is completed in minutes.  The results, in contrast to Botox® injections, are instantaneous.  After your Restylane® treatment, there may be a minor amount of swelling and an occasional bruise – both resolve typically within a few days. Bruising after JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel is rare; however, if aspirin or motrin-like products are used prior to your treatment, bruising will be more likely.  If you live in Fairfield County, Connecticut and would like to learn if facial fillers such as Restylane® are right for you, call or email our office to schedule your Restylane® consultation with Dr. Greenwald today at his White plains, New York cosmetic plastic surgery practice.
