Tummy Tuck in Fairfield County, Connecticut: Greenwich, Danbury, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield

During your tummy tuck or abdominoplasty consultation with Dr. Greenwald, your aesthetic goals and medical history will be carefully discussed with Dr. Greenwald.  Ideal candidates for tummy tuck procedures fall into two main categories: 1) Fairfield County, Connecticut patients who have lost a significant amount of weight 2) Fairfield County, Connecticut (Greenwich, Danbury, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield) women who have excess loose skin in the tummy area often after multiple pregnancies.  In addition to loose skin in the area, many patients seeking tummy tuck surgery have a benign separation of the abdominal muscles in the midline.  This muscle separation called a rectus diastasis gives the abdomen a rounded appearance.  The rectus diastasis if present is repaired during the tummy tuck procedure.  An abdominoplasty or tummy tuck can return your abdomen to its pre-pregnancy shape or give you the flat tummy you never had when you were heavier.

Prior to your surgery at Dr. Greenwald’s private facility in Westchester County, New York, you will have reviewed numerous before and after photographs of patients who have had similar procedures.  Reviewing patient photographs is an invaluable tool in giving patients from Fairfield County, Connecticut Fairfield County, Connecticut (Greenwich, Danbury, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield) realistic expectations for their upcoming surgery and will also allow them to visualize the scarring that results from tummy tuck surgery.  The tummy tuck procedure is performed under twilight or general anesthesia.  Dr. Greenwald begins the procedure by making a hip to hip incision in the lower abdominal region.  The length of the incision depends on the amount of skin to be removed. The abdominal skin is elevated off the underlying muscles (the muscles themselves are not cut or damaged!).  With the underlying muscles exposed, if a muscle separation or rectus diastasis is present, it is repaired.  This reduces the roundness of your tummy and helps accentuate your waistline.  The appropriate amount of abdominal skin is then removed.  Often times, liposuction is used to perform final contouring.  The incisions are then closed in a layered fashion over surgical drains.  Pain pumps are often left under the abdominal skin to minimize postoperative discomfort.

It is important to understand that tummy tuck surgical scars are permanent (just like all surgical incisions) and that each patient heals differently.  Most Fairfield County, Connecticut patients find their improved contours and flat abdomen an excellent trade off for a low, easily concealable surgical scar!  Tummy tuck patients from Fairfield County, Connecticut Fairfield County, Connecticut (Greenwich, Danbury, Darien, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield) are typically able to return to their normal activities with 10 days and are encouraged to go back to their normal aerobic exercise routine at three weeks.

There are numerous variations of the tummy tuck or abdominoplasty that can be used to treat varying degrees of skin excess in the lower abdomen.  For example, for Fairfield County, Connecticut patients who have only a minimal amount of loose skin in the lower abdomen, a mini-tummy tuck may be an appropriate treatment option.
